Saving Private Ryan opening cemetery scene
the infinite field of cross's really showed the scale and brutality of modern warfare (modern at the time of course, as WW2 was unlike any way before it).
for all the hawks who love a conflict you'll never ever know the weight of a war unless you've been directly involved.
Son of battle cry for country pride hatred
John Williams 😮😮😮 Any Questions... More Oscar nominations than anyone...
I love how it zooms in on his eyes so you mistake him for Captain Miller.
Charles de Gaulle , having famously declared to the US Govt that he wanted all US troops out of France in the 60's was asked by Dwight Eisenhower if that included all those buried at the Normandy Beaches? CdeG was , even by many French...was considered a pompous SOB and AH.
I saw this movie the day it came out we where a bunch of loud mouth kids but i never heard such a silence after this movie
I break down every time I watch this scene.
I wonder if they considered having Matt Damon wear old person make up and play older Ryan. I knew it would have given it away but it would have been interesting thing to try or find out.
He's vividly recalling the landings at dog green sector when he parachuted in the night before?
He lost his 3 brothers….. and his family was later blessed with triplet girls…. Was that intentional??
80 years ago today
We can never truly repay those men for what they did for us 80 years ago. Saving Private Ryan is indeed one of, if not the best war films ever made. What made the film so special was it’s absolute reverence and respect for those fallen heroes. The film, unlike so many of the films today which are grossly over politicized, calls on each of us as individual men and women to do good, to live humble and moral lives, to be a people of virtue, dignity and integrity; to go home and love our families, and ultimately to be the best we can be to “earn” what they have done for us. May all the heroes of that day who are now buried on the shores of Normandy, Rest In Peace and in God’s hands for all eternity. Thank you and God Bless! 🇺🇸🕊
Thanks for saving the world guys.
Had a desire to come back and watch this scene after the D-Day commemorations...A big Thank you to all the brave lads from over 10 different countries that stormed those beaches to help fight for a brighter and safer Europe 🇪🇺 Love from Ireland 💚🧡
I took my brother to see this movie when it first came out. We both served and retired in the Navy. I did not want any of my other family members to come. The reason for this is that I just did not think they would understand the sacrifice that was made by these brave souls. To be honest that is a shame. God bless all who serve. Thanks
Just as a movie...a movie device....It seems Old Man Ryan wouldn't know anything about Omaha beach, would he? Closing in on his face, he's going back in time but his D Day would've started long before they hit the beaches, eh?
Trump called US military men losers and suckers.
Stop Trump and vote for Biden. Democracy and freedom must be preserved.
I’ll be voting for Trump, FJB.
6/6/24 appropriate to be watching this today.
4/5ths of a century ago, today. 80 years. This really wasn't that long ago.
Land of the Free, Home of the Brave July 4, 1776 - if Trump turns us into Germany in 1945
Why are so many of you coming out to bring up orange man? Cant you just enjoy a movie scene? 🤡
@@Revanchist1313 he’s a threat to democracy itself.
I always punish myself by watching this, but it needs to be done
👍🏻
Today marks the 80th Anniversary of D-Day! We remember those who gave their lives during World War II.
Glory and infinite gratitude to those who gave it ALL so we could be FREE. 80 years later, you will NEVER be forgotten.
Hats off everywhere, and be upstanding on this Day of Days.
Ww2 vets were truly the greatest generation. Hats off to you all. I apologize for the embarrassment our country has become
Puis ont à fait la guerre
Saw this for real today with families, Normandy 80th celebration visited Omaha cemetery
Pops was in the battle of Okinawa, his brother in Normandy, they (Dept. Of Defense) made sure to separate all relatives after the Sullivan Brothers incident. Uncle never made it home,(died D- day + 20) we went on the 50th anniversary of D- DAY: Pointe Du Hoc. If you have never been , please go, leave the woke world behind and see for yourself.
3 juin 2024 🇫🇷 Je suis en train de regarder ce film à l'occasion du débarquement du 6 juin 1944 en Normandie.... Pourquoi toute ces guerres ???? Des milliers de RYAN sont morts sur les côtes françaises.. Pourquoi ??? Ils ne connaissaient même pas la France
My mother’s uncle was there in the first wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He survived it all and was lucky to have made it home alive. Please uphold and cherish life and the freedom you enjoy today. God Bless France, from the United States.

I watched this damn movie recently and it only took these first few moments to reduce me to tears! I’ve never served in the military, but it’s part of my family. Thank god I’ve never had to go to a graveyard to remember my own. God bless these brave men who sacrificed so much for our freedom and way of life.
I’ve always visited the war dead in my cemetery every remembrance week and I leave one or two years on their graves. I even hugged the graves as I was hugging them from up here and I think they felt it. I’m literally crying my heart out as I celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day
@@nicolelawless9942 I made sure to remind myself that 06/06/24, 80 years ago today, there were were young lads that never came home to their mothers, their fathers, their girlfriends, their wives, their brothers, their sisters, their buddies to help free the world from tyranny and oppression. It’s a debt that can never be repaid. God bless you brave bastards!
This movie is just a Yankee propaganda.
Was traveling back home for emergency leave, flight connected through Munich, took me a while to figure out why the people in my row were staring so hard while I watched the movie. Not my fault it’s a bang and available on almost every flight line.
Lest We Forget. 🇺🇲🇦🇺
My great Uncle was on Omaha Beach. All he ever said about it was "just keep going." What he meant was no matter what you see, just keep running. He described the scene as "a sea of red." He was on a tank destroyer in the second wave. He passed away in 1992 from a very bad heart. I only saw him a few times in my life. But he certainly was larger than life itself. Thank you to all who served in World War II. May you be an example of this great nation and what freedom has meant to so many throughout the ages. Most sincerely and respectively, Michael
We cannot thank the military family's enough for the sacrifice they gave. Life was lost for freedom.
Im Polish.May God bless all the soldiers fighting the Germans there on the beaches. Amazing timeless movie.
This part is the best of the whole film. The graves the tears the music 😢
The Omaha beach scene was that intense that it gave me night terrors for a month and every time I heard a loud bang or something, I immediately get down to start crying my heart out
If you have never been to a military cemetery, you will be overwhelmed. Row after row after row after row of white crosses in perfect alignment, as far as the eye can see. They freely gave their lives for the cause of freedom. Some things are worth dying for. Freedom is one of them!
Merci aux soldats Américains et autres soldats du débarquement de nous avoir permis d'être libres, une reconnaissance éternelle ❤️❤️❤️
We need to talk about Kevin
The way the world is heading...we're gonna lose our freedoms if we're not careful...which means that all the brave men & women of WWII will have died for nothing!
Yes and I am watching what’s going on as well. We may very well be heading towards Third Conflagration.
This week its 4th and 5th may in my country The Netherlands. 4th is remembering the fallen. They are not forgotten.
For those who came home, and for those who left…
😭😭😭😭😭😭
This scene gets me everytime. It is easy to say that one should go to war, but the horrors of it is something will hit you for the rest of your life.
Even my Grandma enjoyed Saving Private Ryan, and she doesn't normally like violent films.

RIP Harrison Young (here playing elderly Ryan) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Young He was a very active actor, appearing in over 100 movies and TV Shows. Usually for small parts like this one here. He truly deserves an Oscar for his simple portrayal of he older Ryan - all done with his facial expressions until he appears again at the end of the movie - asking his wife if was a good person. For all that don't live in so many of the war torn places of the world - you live in peace because of men like those who died here. .
